My own "What I Be" project

Please refer to an earlier post about the "What I Be Project". I took photos of myself in the same sort of way. I pinned up a sheet to the ceiling to create a plain background. I should have ironed it first though. I sat in front of a window I knew got a lot of light. For the writing I used a pencil eyeliner. In the original they use markers that are kind to the skin.

Face paint experiment

When I came to college I decided that I either wanted to do photography or special effects after I leave. I've not done much with face paint over the last year, so last night I decided to recreate one of my favourites that I did way back for my 6th year Art project. Exposed muscle/ bone.

2012 Advanced Higher Art vs 2013 version (more accurate)
 These were taken with my phone (bad quality). The worst part is, the face paint looked better in real life and I feel like i just couldn't capture it on camera.

Trying to get the whole thing in.

  Editing;

Tried to get a really dark background- failed.

Thought I'd see if black and white made a huge difference, and to see if it would still look like exposed muscle/ bone.

I was able to get a really dark background on this one. I'd like this one more if I was perhaps posed differently.

By far my favourite one. The background is dark, the red shows up better, and you can see the detail on the collar bone (and bone in general).

Photography Experiment- Paint in water

This was painty water from my brushes on Thursday after observational drawing. I thought the bubbles were interesting. This led me to wanting to do ink in water.

Made it more bubbly by swooshing my paintbrush around the jar.

Paint on my hand. I thought I'd include these as I liked the light bouncing off of the paint.

First drop. Blurry picture.

Added colours from above.

Came out looking a bit like a galaxy.

I thought I'd maybe be able to use some of these (or selected areas of these) as backgrounds/ overlays in my photography unit.
